People doing something romantic on just one, supposedly, "special" day of the year is cheap and empty. Don't we love and cherish that person for the other 364 days?! Doing something nice for your partner on some random day, like May 27, would be special.
Why do we ALL have to express love for someone on one stupid day. Because we are robots? Live your own life, follow your own rules and love whomever you love when you want to.
